　 【ニューヨーク８日】テニスの全米オープンで８日、ダニエラ・ハンチュコバ、マヘシュ・ブパシ（スロバキア、インド）組が混合ダブルス決勝でカタリーナ・スレボトニク、ネナド・ジモンジッチ（スロベニア、セルビア）組を６−４、６−２のストレートで破り、優勝した。
ハンチュコバはこれで４大大会すべてで混合ダブルスのタイトルを獲得したことになる。

　現在２２歳、世界ランキング１９位のハンチュコバは、レオス・フリードルと組んで２００１年
ウィンブルドン選手権の混合複で初優勝。０２年にはウェイン・ウルエット（ジンバブエ）とのペアで全豪オープンを制し、続く全仏オープンではファブリス・サントロ（フランス）と組み、マルチナ・ナブラチロワ、リーンダー・パエス（米国、インド）のペアを破って栄冠を手にしている。

　全米優勝に「最高の気分よ」とハンチュコバ。４大大会のダブルスで９回の優勝経験のあるダブルスのエキスパート、ブパシは「混合ダブルスで何度かダニエラと対戦したが、全部負けたのじゃないかな。だから、彼女とパートナーを組みたいとずっと思っていた」と語った。ハンチュコバは「マヘシュとのペアで、試合ごとに経験を学んだ。彼とプレーするのはとても名誉なことだわ」と相手を称賛した。 〔ＡＦＰ＝時事〕

今日はダブルスの２回戦がありました。
相手はリホフッェワ・マレーバ組、６−２，６−４で勝ちました。　私達は「１０シードのわりにはタフなドローだね」っと話していたんですが、試合始まる前から
相手の良いところ、悪いところなどを話し合いました。
これが上手い具合に噛み合ってタフな相手だったのにストレートで勝つことができました。

Prize money for the 2005 US Open purse will top $17.7 million, and will potentially exceed $20.6 million -- representing the highest annual purse in sports -- as the top three men's and women's finishers in the US Open Series may earn up to an additional $2.8 million in bonus prize money at the US Open. Both the men's and women's US Open singles champions will earn $1.1 million with the ability to earn up to $2.2 million based on their performances in theUSOpenSeries.
